FAQs
Electrical questions, answered
My breaker trips every evening. What causes that?
Almost always an overloaded circuit or a partial short — often a geyser, iron or air conditioner sharing a circuit that was never sized for it. The electrician will measure the load on each circuit and tell you whether the fix is redistributing the load, upgrading the cable, or replacing a failing breaker.
Can you rewire a house that is still occupied?
Yes. Full rewiring is normally done room by room so the family keeps power in the rest of the house. We agree a room sequence with you before starting and give a realistic day count.
Do you provide the fan, light or breaker?
We can buy it for you at cost and show you the receipt, or you can supply it yourself — the labour rate is the same either way.
Is the work safe to sign off?
Every circuit we touch is tested before the electrician leaves, and the work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty. For full rewiring we walk you through the finished distribution board and label every breaker.
Do you install earthing properly, or just a rod?
A proper earth pit: electrode, salt and charcoal backfill, an inspection chamber and a measured resistance reading before we sign it off. A rod hammered into dry ground is not an earth.
Can you add points without breaking the whole wall?
Often, yes - by running from the nearest existing point, or in surface conduit where that is acceptable. Where chasing is unavoidable you get a separate quote for making good before anything is cut.
Will you work on someone else's wiring?
Yes, but we will tell you honestly what we find. If a board is unsafe we will say so in writing rather than adding one more circuit to it.
